Is Occupational Therapy Right for My Child?

Occupational therapy builds the motor, sensory, and self-care skills kids need for daily independence.

Fine-Motor Struggles

Trouble grasping small objects, using utensils, or fastening buttons—everyday hand precision is hard.

Sensory Processing Challenges

Big reactions to sounds, textures, or movement that make it hard to stay focused and follow directions.

Daily-Living Independence

Needs extra help with dressing, feeding, and age-appropriate play or self-care skills.

Core Strength / Focus

Low muscle tone and overall weakness lead to quick fatigue, poor posture, and ‘clumsy’ movements.

Progress & Review

Every 4 weeks we graph goal mastery, adjust activities, and email a report you can share with teachers.

"After just eight OT sessions, Ava can zip her own jacket and stays regulated through an entire preschool morning. The progress charts keep us motivated!"

FAQs

Here are some common questions about our Occupational Therapy services.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. We’re in-network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Kaiser, and Medicaid. If we’re out-of-network for you, we’ll give you a Superbill so you can submit for reimbursement. Copays and coinsurance vary by plan, so we verify benefits during your intake call before you owe a dollar.

What happens in the first evaluation?

An OTR/L guides your child through play-based activities and standardized tests to assess fine-motor, gross-motor, and sensory skills. You get a verbal summary that day and a full report within three business days.

How many therapy sessions will my child need?

Most kids start with one 45-min session per week for 12 weeks. We review progress monthly; some goals resolve in one block, others need follow-up—always your choice.

What if we have to cancel or pause?

Because each therapist’s caseload is limited to ensure quality, your child’s weekly slot is reserved exclusively for you.

Pausing for more than 2 consecutive weeks releases the spot to a wait-listed family. When you’re ready to resume, we’ll re-enroll your child at the next available opening (typical wait: 6-8 weeks).

How to get started?

To begin, fill out our Inquiry Form with your details. Our team will reach out to discuss your child's needs. We look forward to partnering with you on this journey.
